This event should be one of the best-attended road races at Summit Point in recent memory. With the strength the AKRA national series has gained in recent years, plus the addition of the Animal Nationals for Briggs sprint-enduro karts, WKC is expecting a great crowd.
KART LOUNGE OPINION: We expect a larger contingent of Midwest racers making the trip to Summit for two reasons. 1. From what we’ve seen on Facebook, many of the entrants expected for the Animal Nationals appear to be coming out of the Midwest, and 2. With the new partnership between WKC and AKRA, we’d expect more Dart Kart Club racers from Ohio, Michigan, etc. to head east and support this race. The lack of Friday practice may deter some who have never been to the track from giving Summit Point a try, but we know WKC officials fit in as much practice time as possible Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Summit Point will open the six-race 2021 AKRA National Road Race Series, which will visit Mid-Ohio in June; Grattan, Mich., and Nelson-Ledges, Ohio, in July; Summit Point again in August; and close at Pittsburgh (also a WKC points event) in September.
This will be the first of two chances for karters to race at the historic 2.0-mile Summit Point Main Circuit this year. We’ll be back at Summit Main August 21-22 for the aforementioned Round 5 of the AKRA national series. Both events are two-day races this year (no Friday practice).
