Woodbridge Kart Club announced to its members this week that the club will move into a partnership with AKRA as their primary insurance provider in 2021. They cited AKRA’s insurance program as the most cost-effective for WKC as track costs and insurance rates continue to rise amid the ongoing global pandemic.
In addition to all WKC events being insured by AKRA in 2021, the club announced that their May date at Summit Point Motorsports Park’s Main Course will join the AKRA / Vega Tire National Road Racing Series schedule. The May 22-23 race is a two-day event (no Friday practice) and it becomes AKRA’s 2021 season opener before the series heads to Mid-Ohio June 18-20 for what will now be the second event of the tour.

WKC had already announced that their August 21-22 event at Summit Point Main would be an AKRA national.
It’s worth noting that WKC has been a longtime WKA-insured club with a WKA national being held annually at Summit Point since the 1980s. The club has also hosted a number of WKA national road races at VIRginia Int’l Raceway over the years.
WKA’s Vega Tire National Road Racing Series currently shows six races on the 2021 slate opening with Daytona KartWeek this December 28-30. An event for May 2021 currently shows TBA on the WKA website.
