SUMMIT POINT, W. Va. — The Woodbridge Kart Club has reported that as of Tuesday morning the club has received 310 pre-entries for this weekend’s 2021 AKRA National Road Racing Series season opener at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia.

With WKC’s online registration, racers can continue to enter through the end of the week and even on the day of the race. Cost per class is now $130. Click here for WKC RaceDay online registration.

The first of two AKRA nationals at Summit Point’s 2.0-mile Main Circuit is primed to be the biggest WKC-hosted road race in a number of years. The two-day event offers group practice both Saturday and Sunday morning and dozens of classes each day led by the Animal Nationals for Briggs Animal-powered sprint-enduro karts at 380 lb. minimum weight.

As of Tuesday, the Animal Nationals division has 40 entries each day. Click here for the official entry list.

Other classes with double-digit entry counts are CIK LO206 375# with 18 each day and Yamaha Pipe (laydown enduro) with 13 and 14 each day. IAME Sprint and Stock Honda Lite both have eight pre-entries for each day’s race.

Click here for the entry counts per class, as of Monday morning (more entries have been received since).

We’re looking forward to heading to Summit Point this weekend to provide some coverage of the event. The track is located not far off I-81 about 15 miles east of Winchester, Va. The 2.0-mile Main Circuit at Summit has been a staple track for road race karting since the 1970s, and WKC has been promoting and hosting the kart races there since the start.

This weekend’s race marks the first time the spring event at Summit’s Main Circuit is an AKRA national. The series will return to Summit Main for round five on August 21-22. Click here for the 2021 AKRA Road Racing Series schedule.
