MONROE, N.C. — For the first time Margay Ignite kart racing will join the racing action at Dart Kart Club / AKRA national road race events in 2021.
Starting at the highly anticipated Dart Kart Club opener and round 2 of the AKRA National Road Race Series at the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course June 18-20, Margay Ignite Junior and Senior classes will be offered in both Saturday and Sunday’s race schedule.
Following Mid-Ohio, Ignite Junior and Senior also will be included at Dart Kart-hosted AKRA nationals July 23-25 at Nelson Ledges Road Course in Garrettsville, Ohio, and September 24-26 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pa.
Ignite Junior is for drivers age 12 to 15 at a 320-pound minimum and Ignite Senior is age 15 and up at 360 pounds. The divisions run the Briggs LO206 engine on an Ignite K3 chassis and mandate Hoosier R80 tires.
The Margay Ignite series, which has gained a huge following in both sprint and road racing over the last number of years, should be a great attraction at all three of these road race nationals this summer. At Mid-Ohio, both the Ignite Junior and Senior divisions will be included in each day’s first race group along with TaG Lite, IAME Sprint, TaG Senior Heavy and Piston Port Sprint.
