Hoosier Kartsport becomes new title sponsor of AKRA Road Race Series

MONROE, N.C. — Three great American karting companies, Hoosier Kartsport, Margay Racing and American Kart Racing Association (AKRA), have entered into a new partnership for the upcoming seasons that will make Hoosier the primary sponsor of the AKRA National Road Race Series.

The two parties solidified the partnership last week and it will run for three years starting with the upcoming 2022 six-race tour and lasting through the 2024 season.

“We couldn’t be happier to join forces with Hoosier Kartsport and Margay for 2022 and beyond,” AKRA CEO Bill McCutcheon stated. “This partnership will give back to the two primary groups that keep our national program growing, the racers and the host clubs. We couldn’t operate the National Road Race Series without the hard-working people at Dart Kart Club, Woodbridge Kart Club and CES who promote and manage the events, and all the great race teams that attend them so we can keep going back. Our partnership with Hoosier Kartsport only solidifies our program moving forward, and we’re happy to have them on board.”

Over the last several years the AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Race Series has grown to become the premier road racing karting series in the country highlighted in 2021 with just under 3,000 total race entries at six events.

In 2022, the series will open May 20-22 at Summit Point (W.Va.) Motorsports Park before traveling to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in June, Ohio’s Nelson Ledges Road Course in July, back to Summit Point in August, and Gingerman Raceway in Michigan and Pittsburgh (Pa.) Int’l Race Complex in September.

All of these events offer enduro-style kart racing (30- or 45-minute races with multiple classes on track at once) at some of the greatest motorsports road course venues east of the Mississippi. Over 50 classes compete on a race weekend with popular divisions including CIK Shifter, TaG and LO206, 250 Super Kart, Yamaha Enduro Pipe, Briggs Animal Sprint, Piston Port Sprint, Vintage Enduro, Unlimited, Formula karts and more.
