Early pre-entry numbers signal big turnout for September Road Race at Pittsburgh Int’l

WAMPUM, Pa. — Pre-registration is now open for the AKRA National Road Race Series season closer this September 24-26 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in western Pa., and early entry numbers are already signaling that this year’s Dart Kart Club-hosted Pitt Road Race national is going to be a big one.

In three days of pre-registration, over 100 drivers have already signed up for Friday practice. Those 104 drivers currently make up 310 race entries between Saturday and Sunday’s classes.

With those early numbers, the event has the chance to equal or surpass the biggest road race so far in 2021, June’s AKRA / Dart Kart Club Nationals at Mid-Ohio, which attracted 942 race entries.

“Similar to Mid-Ohio, we’re expecting racers from all over the country to attend Pittsburgh,” AKRA CEO Bill McCutcheon stated. “The track has become a staple road racing venue. Every driver I’ve spoke with loves the layout and challenge of the course, and Dart Kart always does a terrific job putting on the event. We’re looking forward to a great late September weekend in western Pennsylvania, and we hope everyone comes out to join us.”

As always, karters will compete on the 2.78-mile, 19-turn Full Circuit.

Before we head to Pitt, Round 5 of the 2021 AKRA series is coming up this weekend, August 21-22, on the 2.0-mile Main Course at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia. For more information on this weekend’s race at Summit, go to woodbridgekartclub.com.
