CKNA Grand Nationals 5 at New Castle registration open, information released

SHAKOPEE, Minn. (CKNA official press release) – The CKNA Grand Nationals have become the biggest race in 4-cycle karting today. Last year, over 330 competitors competed in just 7 categories. This years addition of the Legends class and imminent opening of the Canadian and Mexican borders means we will see the largest field yet! 2021’s edition of the Grands is undoubtedly going to be a record breaker. You don’t want to miss it!

2020’s growth required CKNA to move qualifying to Friday Evening, which was well received by our competitors. We’re taking it a step further this year, offering an additional day of optional practice on Thursday! This extra day of practice will allow us to accommodate the growing number of competitors without having to drastically decrease the number of laps racers will get on track.

On offer will be at least $25,000 in awards and prizes, awarded based on finishing positions as well as door prizes throughout the entire weekend.

Hosting once again is New Castle Motorsports Park in Indiana. This world class facility has the size and staff to handle an event of this magnitude and is widely considered to be one of the best racing surfaces in North America! We are privileged to have such a perfect home for this event.

With only 8 scheduled classes, we have no intentions of capping entries in any class, but we will be enforcing track limit’s on all classes based on age group. Any classes exceeding the number of competitors allowed at one time will use an alternative format with heat points.

Grand Nationals 5 Format

The exact format is being finalized in the coming weeks… here is a general overview:
Thursday: Informal Practice
Friday: Formal Practice, Qualifying
Saturday: Warm-up, Rounds of Heats
Sunday. Warm-up, Last Chance Qualifiers, Features
Sadly, not all drivers may make it to their feature race. We plan to limit the number of competitors in each class based on age group. The cutoffs will be announced at the drivers meeting Saturday morning.

The final is WINNER TAKE ALL for the title Grand National Champion!
