GARRETTSVILLE, Ohio — Following another stout turnout with nearly 300 drivers competing at the Mid-Ohio Nationals in mid-June, the AKRA / Hoosier Kartsport National Road Race Series will remain in the Buckeye State for the third round of the 2022 tour, a July 22-24 date at the 2-mile Nelson Ledges Road Course in the northeast corner of the state.

This year’s Nelson Ledges Nationals will mark the AKRA series’ fourth consecutive visit to the track, and as always the event is hosted by the Ohio-based Dart Kart Club.
Competition is expected to be strong with road racers attending from across the eastern half of the country. In 2021, over 100 racers were in attendance at “Nelsons,” totaling approximately 300 race entries between Saturday and Sunday’s race groups.
Officials are hoping to surpass that number this summer.
That goal looks like it will be met; as of Wednesday, Dart Kart officials reported only four more Friday practice entries and 11 race entries are needed to meet the 2021 Nelson Ledges pre-entry total.
Pre-registration for Nelson Ledges is open through Friday, July 15, giving racers plenty more time to get entered and save money versus entering at the track.

As is the case with all Dart Kart-hosted events in 2022, the Nelson Ledges Nationals will open with pit pass sales, parking, pre-registration pickup and pre-tech offered Thursday, July 21 from 6 to 10pm. Racers will have the opportunity to practice from 9am to 5pm Friday with a 1-hour lunch break built into the schedule. Morning practice and eight race groups will run both Saturday and Sunday.
