MONROE, N.C. — Following a huge Mid-Ohio Nationals in June with a record 942 race entries, the Dart Kart Club and American Kart Racing Association (AKRA) are gearing up for another big weekend of road racing with the upcoming Nelson Ledges Nationals July 23-25 at Nelson Ledges Road Course in Garrettsville, Ohio, about an hour southeast of Cleveland.

A fast, sweeping course with 6 to 7 major corners, depending how you count them, and multiple flat-out straightaway bends, Nelson Ledges serves as a formidable follow-up to Mid-Ohio and gives Midwest and East Coast road racers another fun track that’s convenient to travel to and from for most.

This will be the third consecutive year Dart Kart has hosted an AKRA national at the track, and according to Dart Kart’s Gene Davis, “This should be the largest race we’ve had at Nelson.”

The facility continues to get upgrades. New for this year will be fuel pumps that were recently installed. The pumps offer Sunoco 110 Leaded, 100 Unleaded and 93 Unleaded and each will be available at the track.

While on-track action starts Friday, July 23, the track’s gates will open Thursday the 22nd at 6pm for pit pass sales, pre-registration pickup and pre-tech. Gates will close at 10pm.

Friday will feature the normal full day of group practice from 9am to 5pm. Both Saturday and Sunday will include morning practice and seven race groups including all the regular DKC / AKRA divisions such as laydown enduros, formula and super karts, CIK shifters, TaGs and LO206, 2-cycle and 4-cycle sprint-enduros, vintage karts and more.

Pre-entry numbers look great for the event. As of Monday, July 12, Dart Kart is reporting race entries are within 10 of the final Nelson Ledges entry count in 2020.

Pre-registration ends this Saturday, July 17. For pre-registration links, the weekend schedule, supplemental rules and more, head over to dartkartclub.com.
